Orchard Residential Care offers medium to long term residential care for young people aged between 8 and 18 who cannot live in their own homes. Our homes offer a physically safe place for young people to be supported and move forward with their lives.  We have a commitment is to provide the best possible care and outcomes for children and young people in a range of settings and locations, across Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Westmeath and Cavan. 

About the Role 
As the dedicated in-house Trainer for our Orchard Residential Care team, you will plan and deliver mandatory training across all our services, including the TCI & Three Pillars programmes in line with regulatory requirements and business needs.
The role holder will also:
  • Report on compliance with registration standards as required
  • Ensure all training aligns with the regulations set out by TUSLA and other relevant bodies
  • Maintain accurate training records for all staff, ensuring all are maintained to inspection and registration standards
  • Advise Senior Management of any changes to the training we provide, particularly those required to meet evolving legislative or regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and deliver other mandatory training (including manual handling, first aid and other relevant training) in line with workforce planning.
  • Work with different departments to identify training needs and develop strategies to address skill gaps.
  • Support in sourcing relevant opportunities for Continuous Professional Development and specialised training on an ongoing basis.
Essential Requirements
  • Candidates must hold a qualification at Level 7 or above that meets the criteria to be registered as a Social Care Worker with CORU
  • Have at least 3 years’ full-time relevant experience of working at social care grade with children/young people, with at least one of these 3 years’ experience at Team Leader level or above
  • Highly IT literate with excellent communication skills
  • Full driving license with eligibility to drive in Ireland and access to a vehicle for business use
  • Have full eligibility and availability to work with us without sponsorship
Desirable Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Trainer in a similar role
  • Hold a relevant Train the trainer qualification
Support to Qualification
The successful post holder will be required to undertake the relevant training and development to become a certified trainer for the role and commit to CPD to ensure standards are upheld.  The company will cover the cost of such training and certification.
